June 07 - I had been going to the Toyota dealership faithfully for the last 8 years until they diagnosed my car (with over 80,000 miles) with a P0420 code - catalytic converter failure. It was too costly to repair so I went to Midas which was half the price for labor and catalytic converter. What a mistake!

June 25, 2007 - Midas installed it. It never quite sounded the same as the original part. Would smell the Sulfur smell occasionally.

December 23, 2007 - 6 months later - Check engine light went on again - back to Midas - they diagnosed it as a failed converter - so the part they installed on 6/25/07 had failed. They had to order the part.

December 26, 2007 - part came in - they installed the new catalytic converter - on the way to work when I was accelerating I heard a grinding noise. I had to go back and have them check it out. Turns out that the gasket was bad or they didn't weld the gasket properly - or some lame excuse about the gasket. They should test drive the car after they do work on it.

April 2, 2007 - went back into Midas due to the check engine light again - was charged $60 diagnostic because it was deemed that the Oxygen sensors were the issue which would have cost 444.88 plus tax to install

Went to Autozone and they did a free diagnostic - P0420 came up - which means failed catalytic converter, NOT OXYGEN SENSOR ISSUE

Not only did Midas install a faulty catalytic convert TWICE, but they also charged me for a diagnostic test and didn't even give me the right diagnosis and even tried to have me do more work on parts that are not even faulty.
